Sad to see this today:
“Nick Ashford, one-half of the legendary Motown songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson who penned elegant, soulful classics for the likes of Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye and funk hits for Chaka Khan and others, died Monday, his former publicist said. He was 70.” - LA TIMES

I love the Ashford and Simpson work, the idea of this husband and wife writing cute love duets together is so adorable.  One of my favorite numbers they wrote is “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing” (performed by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell).   It’s got such a good groove, really nice string and flute parts, a killer bass line, and the lyrics are cute and fun.  It should also be mentioned that they did “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” which is amazing.
